PRESS: Russia mulling new tax for foreign IT companies
MOSCOW, Mar 4 (PRIME) -- Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko has discussed introduction of a new tax for global companies at a meeting with representatives of the IT industry at the end of February, business daily Vedomosti reported on Thursday quoting the participants.
Representatives of tech giants Yandex and Mail.ru Group, Alfa-Bank, carrier Russian Railways, venture fund Almaz Capital Partners, participated in the meeting, which tool place amid discussion of new measures of support and development for the IT industry.
A participant told the daily that the country plans to charge additional payment from the firms that use the data of Russians and form their advertising policy in the country to support the local IT industry.
A decision on the matter is to be made tentatively by July.
